Philadelphia: Owls, Hawks and Dragons, oh my!
February 25, 2021
The GIST: Between Temple, Saint Joseph’s (SJU), Drexel and Villanova, Philly’s got a lot of college basketball going down. We’re here to catch you up and get you primed for March Madness.

The highs: The No. 8-ranked Villanova men’s basketball team has been in the top 10 all season, and their recent revenge-win against the St. John’s Red Storm proved they have the fire they’ll need to go the distance in the tournament.
- Meanwhile, the 14-4 women’s team has had a strong season, but with competition from top-ranked UConn and No. 24-ranked DePaul in the Big East Conference, it’s not looking like they’ll make the NCAA tournament. Womp.
The lows: We hate to say it, but the Temple, SJU, and Drexel men’s teams are all well below .500 this season, with zero playoff aspirations. The women’s teams, with the exception of St. Joe’s, all have better overall records, but their postseason prospects are equally grim. Sigh.
- These teams will all wrap up their regular seasons in the next week, so if you’ve yet to catch a game this season, pour one out for our student athletes and tune in this weekend. All game details can be found on each school’s website.
