The GIST: Two national champions will be crowned this weekend: the beach queens and the kings of the court. And if you’re a UCLA Bruins fan, prepare to eight-clap pretty much nonstop.

🏐 Men’s volleyball: The top-seeded Bruins blasted their way through last night’s semifinals, silencing Long Beach State with a 3-0 shutout. This marks UCLA’s 27th trip to the championship match, and if the Bruins can finish the job tomorrow, they’ll secure their 20th program title and first since 2006.

  • But first, they’ll have to knock No. 2 seed Hawaii out of the spotlight. The Rainbow Warriors battled through five sets (for the first time all season!) against Penn State to advance last night, and they won’t give up their three-peat dreams easily.

🏖️ Beach volleyball: There’s no relaxing on the NCAA beach this weekend — the shore will be action-packed. Eight first-round matchups hit the sand today before tomorrow’s quarter-finals and semis go down, then the new national champ takes the trophy on Sunday. We’re exhausted and sunburned just thinking about it.

  • Bruins fans, rejoice (again): Your beach volleyball squad is also a top seed. They’re expected to sail through to the championship round — only No. 4 Florida State, one of just three teams to beat them this year, is likely to make waves.
