The GIST: It wasn’t just the fellas having fun this weekend — the gals put fuel on the fire as well. Here are the matchups that still have our heads spinning.

The rematch: It was as electrifying as expected but, unfortunately for No. 5 UConn, last year’s national championship rematch ended in an 81–77 dub for still-undefeated No. 1 South Carolina. Reigning Player of the Year Aliyah Boston did Aliyah Boston things, earning a season-high 26-point double-double in what we thought wasthe game of the weekend until…

The shocker: The unranked Washington Huskies rocked No. 2 Stanford’s world last night, beating the Cardinal 72–67 in what may be the season’s most unexpected upset thus far. The Huskies, who put up 30 points in the second quarter alone, were led by freshman guard Elle Ladine, who topped all scorers with 21 points off the damn bench. Cue Gaga.

The others: Chaos touched nearly every Power Five conference, with ranked teams falling left and right. In the Big 12, No. 12 Iowa State dropped 76–70 to unranked Baylor at home in their second consecutive loss, while in the Big Ten, No. 10 Ohio State’s self-destruction continued with a 90–54 beatdown by No. 8 Maryland.

  • The ACC standings were also put in a spin cycle with two upsets yesterday, and the madness is likely to continue when No. 13 Virginia Tech takes on No. 15 NC State tonight at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN2. We’d be exhausted if we weren’t So. Freaking. Hyped.
