The GIST: Still bummed about Gonzaga men’s basketball losing Monday’s championship game? Same. Maybe the Mariners and the OL Reign players can lift your spirits.

⚾️Mariners: The Mariners beat the Chicago White Sox 8–4 yesterday to avoid the sweep. The M’s scored seven (!!!) runs in the sixth inning to power the comeback, including this joyful clearing of the bases. Precious.

  • But the injury bug bit the M’s, with pitcher James Paxton and left fielder Jake Fraley placed on the injured list Wednesday morning. To top it off, first baseman Evan White left yesterday’s game with quad tightness. Heal up.

⚽️OL Reign: The Reign aren’t back in NWSL action quite yet, but five Reign players are representing their national teams in international friendlies this week. Midfielders Quinn and Jess Fishlock will go foot-to-foot when Quinn and their Canadian team take on Fishlock’s Welsh side tomorrow at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT.

  • Goalkeeper Karen Bardsley and forward Nicole Momiki were named to the English and Japanese teams, respectively. And of course, repping the red, white and blue is number 15...Megan Rapinoe! Damn, love our international squad.
