NBA playoffs: Conference semifinals underway
The GIST: The NBA is officially in the thick of its conference semifinals, with the last pair of Game 2s on deck tonight. It’s spice, its drama, it’s various animal mascots — never end, NBA Playoffs.
About last night: After an embarrassing Game 1 loss, the Boston Celtics flipped it and reversed it with last night’s 109–86 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. While Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo (pronounced YAH-niss ah-det-oh-KOON-boh) posted 28 points, Boston’s Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum found their groove again with 30 and 29 apiece.
- Over in the Western Conference, the Memphis Grizzlies bounced back from Game 1’s heartbreak to down the Golden State Warriors 106–101 last night. Tune in to an important evening of the series when Game 3 tips off in the Bay Area on Saturday.
On the docket: The Philadelphia 76ers will try to rebound from Monday’s loss when they take on the Miami Heat at 7:30 p.m. ET tonight. Without Joel Embiid (concussion, fractured orbital bone), Philly will turn to Tobias Harris once again. And without Kyle Lowry (hamstring), Miami will lean on superstar snarler sixth man Tyler Herro.
- Luka Doncic, who scored 45 points in the Dallas Mavericks’ Game 1 loss on Monday, will need more help from his teammates if they want revenge against the Phoenix Suns in tonight’s 10 p.m. ET Game 2.
