Sabrina Ionescu notches another record-breaking triple-double
The GIST: Women notched a few incredible record-breaking performances this weekend, proving Saturday and Sunday are, in fact, for the girls. You love to see it.
🏀 WNBA: The NY Liberty’s Sabrina “triple-double” Ionescu (pronounced yo-NESS-coo) did what she does best yesterday, posting 27 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists in her squad’s narrow 88–86 loss to the defending champ Chicago Sky, making her just the fourth player in W history to notch multiple career triple-doubles.
- Even better, Ionescu did it quickly — she’s the first player to achieve the feat in just three quarters of action. Too easy.
⛳️ Golf: As mentioned, Swedish golfer Linn Grant made history as the first woman to win on the men’s European Tour (now known as the DP World Tour) with yesterday’s dominant performance at the Scandinavian Mixed event, beating out the field of men and women by an incredible nine strokes. Un-fore-gettable.
🎓👟 NCAA track & field: Kentucky junior Abby Steiner sprinted her way into the history books on Saturday, posting a blazing fast 21.80 seconds finish in the 200m to shatter the collegiate record and claim the individual NCAA title.
- Then, less than an hour later, Steiner ran an epic third leg of Kentucky’s 4x400m relay, lifting the Wildcats from fourth to their eventual first-place finish in the event. Who (literally) run the world?
