’Nova: ICYMI, en route to the UConn Huskies claiming yet another conference championship, the Villanova women’s basketball team was demolished by the powerhouse program, losing 84–39 in the semifinal round of the Big East Tournament on Sunday. Sigh.
- On the other hand, the top-seeded men’s basketball team will play their first conference tournament game when they take on the Georgetown Hoyas at 12 p.m. ET today, so you’ll know where to find us on our lunch break.
PSU: Over in the Big Ten, the Penn State women’s team lost 75–66 to the Michigan State Spartans in the first round of the conference tournament last night. PSU freshman Maddie Burke, the Big Ten’s Sixth Player of the Year, led the team with 22 points, and WE ARE still proud.
- Meanwhile, the No. 11-seeded Lions men’s team took down the Nebraska Cornhuskers 72–66 in the first round of their conference tournament last night, led by guard Jamari Wheeler with a career-best 19 points.
- The Lions move on to face the No. 5-seeded Wisconsin Badgers tonight at 9 p.m. ET. Let’s hope Wheeler can keep making those buckets, because PSU’s going to need ’em.
