Boston: Too hot to handle

February 22, 2021
The GIST: They might have been fashionably late, but the Bruins earned a big win in yesterday’s weather delayed Winter Classic matchup. Meanwhile, the C’s kept up their own trend of blowing big leads. You win some, you lose some.

🏒Bruins: Climate change Poor ice delays be damned, the B’s debuted their reverse retro jerseys in style, defeating the Philadelphia Flyers 7–3 to earn a picture perfect outdoor win in stunning Lake Tahoe. David Pastrňák led the way with three goals, including this incredible no-look shot. Hats off!

🏀Celtics: The C’s couldn’t hold off a New Orleans Pelicans’ comeback, suffering a heartbreaking 120–115 overtime (OT) loss. Jayson Tatum netted 32 points, including this clutch basket to send the game to OT, while Jaylen Brown — who was snubbed as an All-Star starter, but is still the All-Star of our hearts — added 25 of his own.

  • Speaking of the All-Star game, Marcus Smart, who’s been out with a calf injury since January, will reportedly not return until after the NBA All-Star break. Can’t come soon enough.
  • Otherwise, the Celtics will look to rebound against All-Star starter Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. ET. Here we go.
