The GIST: Fresh off Wednesday’s 106–99 Game 3 win over the Dallas Mavericks, the Boston Celtics (up 3-0) are one win away from a league record 18th championship trophy. Will the dominant Cs complete the sweep or can the Mavs stay alive?

• Here’s what to know ahead of tonight’s massive 8:30 p.m. ET Game 4.

Boston’s 48 minutes away from history: No team has ever rallied from an 0-3 deficit in the NBA postseason, much less in the Finals, adding to the air of inevitability that’s surrounded the bridesmaid Celtics all season.

• But now, the Cs are finally meeting the moment: Superstars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum look unstoppable, and defensive stalwart Jrue Holiday has proven he was the Celtics’ missing link after seasons of disappointment in the Hub.

• Plus, injured big man Kristaps Porziņģis could return to the court tonight, possibly bolstering Boston’s already lockdown defense. TL;DR? Ready that broom.

Dallas Mavericks look out of sorts: The Mavs’ Luka Dončić is a game-changer, but not when he’s on the bench. Luka’s poor defense caused him to foul out of Game 3 in the fourth quarter, stymying Dallas’ comeback attempt. And while he directs his ire at the referees, it may be better suited for his teammates.

• Though Kyrie Irving broke out of his shooting slump with 35 points in Game 3, the rest of the Mavs have looked inexperienced and out of sync, with 11 different players hitting the floor in an effort to spark some flames. It’s light it up or head home tonight.

The GIST: Following in the Celtics’ footsteps, the Florida Panthers (up 3-0) need just one more win to clinch their first-ever championship and the first Stanley Cup sweep since 1998, aka when Semisonic released this timely banger.

Panthers hang on for 4–3 Game 3 win: A wise person once said that jetlag is a choice, and the Panthers showed no sign of fatigue last night, taking full control of the series with a feisty road victory. Florida scored thrice in the second period while brick wall goalie Sergei Bobrovsky’s 32 saves put the Cats one win away from hockey immortality. Feline good.

Edmonton Oilers need an offensive spark: The Oilers outshot the Panthers 35 to 23 last night and almost came back in the third period, but Edmonton simply hasn’t been able to get over the hump. Part of the reason why? Captain Connor McDavid isn’t performing like the Hart Trophy winner he’s known to be.

• Superstar McDavid has yet to score in the Final (although he has notched plenty of assists), but the Oils desperately need him to light the lamp if they intend to complete the comeback in hopes of ending Canada’s 31-year Stanley Cup drought. It’s not over ’til it’s over.

• American Alison Lee, who’s searching for her first career LPGA Tour win, leads the field through one round in Michigan, but world No. 14 Canadian and two-time major winner Brooke Henderson is right on her heels, sitting two strokes back.

• Two weeks and 64 teams later, eight squads are swinging into the always unforgettable MCWS from Omaha, Nebraska, where national championship glory is on the line. Hey, batter batter.

🏀 WNBA: NY Liberty vs. Las Vegas Aces — Tomorrow at 3 p.m. ET — ABC

• It’s a tale of two superteams: the Libs are on a seven-game win streak while the defending champ Aces have lost three of their last four. Perhaps Chelsea Gray is the trick up Las Vegas’ sleeve to get back on track.
