A very superb owl

Happy Monday after the Super Bowl!
Keep the confetti falling because we’re staring straight into all of the on- and off-field highlights from last night’s lopsided 40–22 Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl victory. Flying high.

— Notoriously emotional Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, weeping with his family after leading his squad to last night’s Super Bowl LIX (59) win. Somebody get this guy a towel.
How it happened
🏈 Vibe like that

The GIST: From the opening kickoff to the final seconds, everything came up Philly, as the Eagles dominated the Kansas City Chiefs to win their second title in franchise history. Inner excellence leads to outer excellence…and a Vince Lombardi Trophy, apparently.
How it happened: Philly’s best-in-the-league defense lived up to its billing, sacking KC quarterback (QB) Patrick Mahomes six times and forcing three turnovers, including a pick-six from Eagles birthday boy defensive back Cooper DeJean. Just how good was the defense? KC didn’t even score until the final minute of the third quarter. Complete and utter domination.
- As for the offense, with running back (RB) Saquon Barkley surprisingly held to just 57 rushing yards and no touchdowns (TDs), Super Bowl MVP QB Jalen Hurts took the ball into his own hands…literally, throwing for two TDs and running in another. Forget jambalaya, revenge tastes best in the Bayou.
Zooming out: After giving up a 10-point Super Bowl lead to these very same Chiefs two years ago, Philly only added to their 24-point first-half advantage to ensure there was no déjà vu in 2025, leading by as many as 34 points in the second half.
- As for KC, the magic simply ran out for a team that played in 11 (!!!) one-possession games this season. Despite repeatedly eking out close wins in regular-season action, the Super Bowl is a different beast, and Kansas City just couldn’t pull off the historic three-peat.
The entertainment
🎤 She’s way too good for you

The GIST: Step aside, Eagles — women were among the brightest stars of the biggest Sunday in sports. Enough boos — these off-field highlights were all about support.
🎹 Lady Gaga kicks off moving tribute to New Orleans: Gaga made a surprise appearance in the Crescent City last night, performing her ballad “Hold My Hand” to honor the victims of the New Year’s Day terror attack in the city’s French Quarter.
- Shortly after, Southern University’s Original Pinettes became the first all-women brass band to perform at the Super Bowl.
✔️ Nike celebrates women’s sports with its first Super Bowl ad since 1998: Three-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, and gymnastics icon Jordan Chiles highlighted the nine pro women athletes featured in Nike’s brand-new “So Win” campaign, which was voiced-over by Grammy-winning rapper Doechii. Electric.
👟 Serena Williams spotlighted in Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show: Along with emcee Samuel L. Jackson, the standout surprise guest in Lamar’s 13-minute performance was his fellow Compton legend (and Drake’s ex), the GOAT, Williams. Game over.
- Prior to the crip walk that broke the internet and the long-awaited performance of “Not Like Us,” Lamar wowed with a thrilling, artistic set featuring frequent collaborator SZA. All the stars are closer, indeed.
💗 Hailee Steinfeld wants to save the tatas: Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen’s fiancée starred in one of the most creative commercials of the night, partnering with breast cancer survivor, actress Wanda Sykes, to literally give breasts “the attention they deserve most” and highlight life-saving early detection.

The GIST: As you read, the Eagles prevented Kansas City from achieving a historic three-peat last night. Here’s a look at a handful of eye-popping stats from Philly’s massive win.
72: The record-breaking number of yards run by Super Bowl MVP Hurts, who played one of his most efficient games of the season under the brightest lights. The dual-threat QB missed just five passes all game, throwing for an additional 221 yards. Casual.
$6,900: The average ticket price for this year’s Super Bowl, down 17% from last season’s big game.
34: Philly’s 34-point fourth-quarter lead marked the largest deficit KC QB Mahomes has faced in his career — not even magic could overcome that.
22: As in the age Eagles rookie Cooper DeJean turned on just about the perfect night in New Orleans, becoming the first NFL player to score a Super Bowl TD on his birthday. He has a lot going on at the moment.
Together With Verizon

Somebody call Raven because capturing world class content at the Super Bowl could be in your future. Check out Verizon’s Behind the Lens program, a partnership with the NFL that offers women content creators access to on-the-job mentorship at high-profile events. Say less.

🎤 Just ask Emma, who’s part of Behind the Lens’ inaugural class: “It's been really special to be included in a program that is intentionally making space for women to get their feet in the door.” Think you’d thrive on an NFL sideline? Applications are open now.
